I've always loved the way people equate "best selling " with "best ". The best selling newspaper in the UK is the Sun - it's shite. The most watched TV programs are invariably shite. By that logic, either Dan Brown or JK Rowling are the best living writers. Best selling is not a measure of quality.

Amazon's tablet is mostly content. music, movies and books, and probably audible.com books too. I think the average consumer is going to like not having to go to 10 places to get their movie. Or try to remember which service they bought X movie on.. Amazon its all in one place. You do have to love the irony that it is a closed system that is really going to finally let android tablets take off.. My biggest gripe is can we sideload books we've bought from other places. I imagine you can since you can on Nook and iPad. |

That said, I imagine Amazon cannot reach the price point it has set without making it up in ebook sales. My guess is you won't see apps for nook, kobo or sony anytime soon. | |

You might want to check the link you just posted, Harry. Nothing is settled on that issue just yet. But I will be happy to be wrong. Just like a certain person who confidently predicted there would be no new eink kindles announced on Wed. |

Looking at Amazon's App Market I see a bunch of ebook readers, including Aldiko (ePub, including ADE), Adobe, and Kobo. The only thing I see missing that could be supported is B&N, and well .. it IS Amazon's biggest ebook rival. I don't think it's too badly walled in.
