I do like the physical buttons on my 505, and I especially like the thumb button on the bottom LEFT hand side, because I often read one-handed that way and like that I can turn the page without having to move my hand to the right side of the Reader. I'm not sure how the amazon one works. I would love to have a touch screen that is configurable, so that I could designate just one out of place area (like the TOP left hand corner, for me) to turn back and the rest of the screen to turn forward. |

Hmmm - I visit the US every year on business. If the Kindles are usable worldwide, and they seem to be, since the charger allows for it, I might wait. Do you think that the ad supported ones will actually care that you're accessing it from the UK? I bought a Nook Color last year and it works a treat in the UK, except that I can't buy the books or the apps. I use Calibre a lot, so I can send books to both my Kindle and my NC so that's not too big a problem. And until recently my NC was rooted. Still prefer the Nook Color for one simple reason - the micro SD card slot. I love the convenience of being able to switch or expand the memory. I don't like being limited to 8g, and since I travel a fair bit, I don't like being dependent on the cloud. Once they bring out a 3G Fire, I might consider it. |

They don't want the thing to go out of stock like to original release the first day it can be ordered. BOb

I just read a blog that said the announced prices were for Kindles "with special offers," aka advertising. The new low-end Kindle without the ads is supposedly $109, $30 more. I still think they'll sell a million. L.J. [Promotional link deleted - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 02-26-2012 at 06:36 AM. |

Wow, looks like Amazon released a virtual tsanami of devices. There's something at every price point and for (almost) everyone. Well done, Mr. Bezos. I haven't been able to digest all the choices as yet, but one thing seems likely: there's a Kindle of some kind in my Christmas buying plans. |

You will have to find someone in the US to buy it for you and ship it to you though.

Is it true that some people have had problems with cracks at the corners of the K3? The Special Offers ad banner seems pretty unobtrusive as these things go...I don't think that would really bother me.
