Can we assume full access to Amazon App Store? If so, you'll be able to put Kobo, Aldiko, Mantano Reader on there. Probably Nook as well if you can enable '3rd party' apps. Wonder if Nook not being there is due to Amazon not allowing it or B&N not submitting it—I suspect the latter.

Shame they won't support unencrypted epub, can't really be bothered keeping all my books in 2 formats. Still the £89 against $109 means we might get a good price on the Fire - if it's ever released here. | |

Too bad Kindle Touch doesn't benefit from the 'Silk' browser acceleration.

The new lighted covers look nice....light swings out from the top center. I have already pre-ordered my $99 Touch. |

Am I wrong or delivery for the Kindle Touch and Kindle "Button" is 11/21 in US, but pre-order for Kindle Button says delivery on 10/12 on the UK and German Kindle ?

It says "12th October", if that's what you mean by "10/12".

Looks as though none of the new Kindle models have an expansion sd or micro sd slot. Can anyone verify this? If there was an available slot I might consider the touch 3g.

I think I may have misunderstood something that was covered in the press conference. They had been talking about Whispersync and using it with movies and music, and then they started talking about the new Silk Browser. I think I made the erroneous connection that the device was going to support a connection to the internet via WhisperNet and the Silk Browser. I was just WRONG. Whispersync and WhisperNet are two different things and the Kindle Fire doesn't have a 3G connection at all -- thus no WhisperNet. |

Doesn't look like we're getting the Touch in the UK for a while <sadface> |

Given that no existing Kindle has an expansion slot, there's really no reason to suppose that the new models would have one.
