The word I have gotten says that Amazon used the same company that produced Blackberry for a lot of the hardware to save time. Amazon used their own UI. Also http://techcrunch.com/2011/09/26/amazon-kindle-fire/ Kindle "Fire" 2nd week Nov - ship custom UI TI dual-core OMAP chip. Probably 1.2Gz As for the name. Remember you use kindling or twigs to start a fire. Did anyone see the "twigs" model, or was that an abandoned prototype? Last edited by frahse; 09-26-2011 at 07:42 PM. |

Well ... if the 7" tablet that's being sold just to have a tablet in the market in 2011 is the Fire, the alleged 10" perfected model in 2012 should be called the "Inferno"?

I can just visualize the commercials: 1. A person holding a book - which bursts into flames - out of which emerges The Fire! [oh wait - there's a great name for the 10" version - the Phoenix!] 2. Stockings lined up on the mantle - with tiny flames flickering at the tops of the ones that contain the Fire! |

They could have the Fire and then the bigger one named the Bonfire.

Sounds like they need help with their creative spark if that's the name of their new product. |
