The Fire? Oh my goodness, I really hope that was only the internal code name.

Good God, that better not be true. That sounds terrible. Both the device and the God-awful name. |

It has to be either a joke or just their internal code name. As you all know I'm not the biggest Kindle fan but I will give credit where it's due. Amazon has one of the best Marketing teams in the business, I cannot see them sitting around the conference room and having them all say "Yes the Fire, perfect, Fire is HOT, this will be the name". No way . |

Then again, people said this about the Kindle name back when it came out, too.

I'm not saying it's a great name, but it is a fairly obvious one. Still, it sounds rather underwhelming as a product. |

Kindle ... Fire ... What's the problem? Similar while being different. |

I don't have a problem with the name. It's the 7" screen powered by a "fork" of an old version of Android that I think sucks.

I liked this comment: Flame on! It sounds pretty much as expected- a Nook Color clone based on a fork of Android. For the people who are disappointed : What did they expect- some kind of Android dream tablet, as good as the iPad but half the price, with full on access to the google market, and assorted bells and whistles? Time to give up hunting that unicorn. |

Hey, if HTC and Apple aren't on board, they can at least go on tour.

I also don't have a problem with the name. I like the connection to Kindle. It's like the next level - color tablet. Kindling is the level below fire. I do wish they were releasing a new KINDLE, though. |
