			The original poster should investigate the use of Calibre's "plugboards". This lets you automatically append a series name and number to the title of a book when the book is sent to the device. It's a much better solution than incorporating the number into the book's title in the metadata.

			I use both a Plug Board and a Save Template. In the Pref "Save to Disk" and "Send to Device" I use the following: {series} {series_index:0>2s} {title} - {authors} so that the saved filename pre-pends the series name for visibility from a file browser. The Plug Boards I use do similar to the title field and send author_sort to the author field |
