Well, I've finally reached the halfway point--50 books read. I've picked up the pace considerably lately; my total was only 30 at the end of June. I still have hopes of hitting 100!

				READ 100 BOOKS IN 2011

If I took up the challenge then I think I'd make it, just. I average about 2 books a week anyway, sometimes far more, as many as 5, which makes up for the non-reading weeks, but there's not too many of these.

2 in the last 2, and probably another today. This is what happens when you stay home from work with a bad cold. |

I already know I won't get to my goal of reading 100 books this year. I have hardly touched a book these last weeks, there's too much happening in real life The last book I read took me 2 weeks to finish. |

I'm at 80 books now so I should be able to make it.

I looked at my status bar on Goodreads.com for the 100 in 2011 challenge, I am 61% behind at my current pace.....LOL. I also started like 2 months ago and have been reading as fast as I can and still enjoy the book. My digital library grew exponentially here last night, so I might be able to pick up the pace a little |

I'm a little bit behind, should be at 67 or 68 by now if I'm going to make it, don't imagine that I will, I'm a tad slow for that.

I tried to make it this year, but it is time to throw in the towel. I won't make it. I guess I should have held off on a couple of the larger ones (The Way of Kings = 1280 pages). So far I have read 54 books (including short stories) and am somewhere north of 16,000 pages. I don't have page counts for most of the short stories and some e-books are only available electronically, so they aren't included. It would probably bring the total up to 17,000+ pages. Of course if you look at page counts, even ignoring the ones I don't have pages for, I am on track to finish about 22,000 pages. And if you assume that every 200 pages is one book - I will make it at around 110 books. So, if I keep this up, I will still count this year as a win! |

^200 pages is a book?!? I'm at 28 books and about 9,200 pages. I won't make 40 books this year, but it's been fun keeping track anyway. @Nyssa: I see you've picked up on the reading again. |

Either way, I am really just having fun too. I love my Kindle and the ability to have any book I want at my finger tips. I have read more new authors this year than I have in the past 5 years combined, maybe even 10 years, because of it. Many of those were short stories and many of them were free, but I have purchased several other stories by the authors I have really liked and will continue to do so. | |

^I included The Metamorphosis which is way too short, but then Ulysses made up for it. To me, it's all a wash and the numbers don't matter that much. Agreed on the more new authors. A quick check and I've read from 15 new authors this year. |
