Next step is they need to improve their smartphone apps. The Android version syncs ok with my 950, but the app is very limited in features. They need to release an iPhone app still that complies with the Apple rules like the other brands have done.

Yes! Apps! I have an iThing and Sony is the only company app I don't have. I don't blame them for that, though...IIRC Apple gave Sony the shaft.

It's visibly a different size and you're turning pages at a different rate. Size changes are noticeable. Last edited by anamardoll; 08-31-2011 at 05:21 PM. |

About the glare, it seems to be more from maybe a light source from the video camera. If you look at the second video (Engadget video - http://cme.at/e-book-reader/eink/ifa...fi-prs-t1-vor/ ) of the red Reader, there is big glob of light on the e-ink screen. E-ink screens are not reflective. Have to see the device in a store, in ambient light to really judge the reflectiveness.

Seriously, I like the 7" size for a reader. Lots of real estate, not so much that I have to keep moving my head up and down. Also chiming in on the "I can't imagine what they were thinking with the curved bottom" thing. That's... confusing.

I do understand preferring 7" over 6". But to then prefer 5" over 6" seems a bit silly give the 6" is bigger then the 5" the same 7" vs. 6" reasons apply.

[/QUOTE] Curved bottom ? [oops... ) Perfectly logical reason for that - more dosh to be earned from sales of new covers. Possibly with built-in spirit levels .... |

as far as the curved bottom, the one picture I saw of it, it appeared that it just had curved corners, and a good half of the bottom was flat. Guess just enough of a curve on the corners, that it gives the visual appearance of entire bottom being curved, but still has flatness for propping.

Sorry I haven't read this entire thread...so I apologize if this issue has been addressed already But just putting in my two cents: If they have adjusted their font sizes, so that there isn't that huge difference between "small" and "medium," then I might consider buying this one. ETA: Hmmm...would "pinch-zoom" take care of this issue? Last edited by beautifulsoup; 08-31-2011 at 05:42 PM. Reason: Watched the Sony video.... |
