Oh, I'm the same in Calibre! My point is more: if I can't see it, I don't care, but if I can, it must be perfect!

That's why Pie said "binary compatible on the same platform". Which is, I believe, true.

If you statically link, you can't get any benefit from upgrades to the libraries used, since the copies of the libraries used are built in. So bug fixes and such will pass you by. Not only that but the size of your compiled app will be significantly larger, which if you are developing for mobile platforms that gets to be more of an issue due to limited amount of memory and storage. |

But therefore this single task should be done perfect. So, if the pictures are a good representation of the truth, I fear the most important purpose, reading even in sunlight, will be not done perfect. Cause of mirroring surface. But man has to wait... One month lasting energy is better than 2 weeks. At least in my case I got troubles this summer cause of the fact my PRS350 didn't last that long. We where for 10 days on an small south pacific island without electricity. The reader gave up after one week. Using the wikipedia over WiFi (not over the cellphone net) at least for me ist sensless. Searching for definitions during reading a book has to be fast. Therefore you need (free) WiFi in the neighborhood. Which lots of people doesn't have. A better idea could be to use wikipedia offline. And allow using free dictionaries, including an offline version of Wikipedia. But that's not the SONY-way and never had been. Too much freedom... A. |

Wikipedia offline usage is trivial, and readers for such exist. However, it requires much space, and is limited on updates. It is often easier and cheaper to slap in wifi and let you access it online. If I remember right, it is nearly 4 gigs for just the articles on wikipedia, no images. You start adding in images, and it greatly jumps to like 20 gigs.

Looks like the new sony will only be $149. Not bad. The Harry Potter version will include the first book for free and it will also retail for $149. I doubt anything but the free book will distinguish if from the regular version of the reader. Which is a good thing IMO. That way people wont be scalping these things for double the price on ebay.
