Dixons now selling cheap HP Touchpads in the UK
The Dixons chain in the UK are now selling the HP Touchpad. The price is £89 (reduced from £350) for the 16GB model; £115 (reduced from £430) for the 32GB model.

Dixons put them on sale at 6pm on monday, the site slowed to a crawl by 6:01 and stock appeared to be gone within a few minutes after that.
Lots of sites have reduced prices and similarly been hit by a ton of traffic. There's just a few who have yet to reduce their prices such as Argos and Tesco. Quite a bargin for those that managed to snag one, even as a discontinued product. |

Why are people buying these? Don't they know there are very few apps for the operating system and perhaps no new ones unless someone else starts making web o/s devices?.

Depend what you want it for. Not everyone's interested in having a million apps. If you want a tablet for watching video, surfing the web, perhaps reading Kindle books, the Touchpad is ideal.

I'd like one. For the livingroom. Some surfing the internet would be the main function. And I think the Touchpad would do nicely for that.

Then there's the group that have bought it and will be waiting for a Android port to become available (currently in progress). I tried to get one for several of the reasons above Sadly missed out, but saved some cash
