Agreed. A foul that is exacerbated by the fact that we know they wanted something similar to the original. That's no small distinction that they tried to license to original. There's precedent for that sort of thing being factored in by the courts, in fact. Thankfully, it doesn't appear the original artist will have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a lawsuit.

I can't add to the legalities of this, but I do feel dreadful for the author. Since the book cover in question is for the second in a series, I bought the first. Solidarity!

I gotta agree with the majority...they wanted "that" cover, and couldn't get it, so threw some money around and got someone to copy it...people where like WTF?? and so they withdrew into their publishers cave to eat crow and make something else.

I agree that sarcasm is not best used in text, but I just thought that since my post was such a blatant lie (the adultery part, as well as claiming not to see any similarities) that it would be clear.

I guess that is part of why emoticons became so popular, they assist in giving clues to things that you would have picked up on normally if you heard the tone of the voice, or facial expressions.

As far as missing it, well, you do have to admit we've had some hard headed people around here lately make similarly outlandish arguments but were dead serious.
