Bookeen has another new Blog entry about the undevelopment firmware.

Waiting for, the new firmware.

Our team is actually working on the development of the new firmware. We are late for that first official update, nevertheless we are doing all that we can to supply you rapidly with your new firmware, integrating a maximum of new feature and bug fixes.

A first hint about what will be integrated in this upgrade is that it will sensibly change the gestion of the navigation button.

Did a French - English translation and it seems to refer to control. Which makes sense in the context.

hmm, who was it who was complaining that the english articles were mixed in with the french articles ? and wasn't that something like yesterday ? i notice now there is a link to switch from english version to french or vice versa.

But that begs the question, "Why would I care how to 'manage' the navigation button"? Nope. Don't care unless I'm writing other apps - and as the Cybook is pretty much closed to user developement at this point - I'm not doing that.

Well, that of course, is not what they likely meant. I suspect they are saying that they have changed the way the button works to be be more intuitive and provide a better user experience.

Hmmm... I want to go forward in an ebook, I press the right or bottom edge. To go back, I press the left or top edge.

Yeah, I see what everyone means. These concepts clearly ARE rocket science.

And again I point out... Without the ability to add user-specified/designed functionality (user-created apps), how much re-mapping does one need?

One of the largest complaints of new users is that they press the button and it doesn't work right. Managing the button press better will improve the operation. Sigh.

Simple...there have been a number of cyBook users asking for the ability to use the buttons on the side for turning pages. That requires *no* ability to add user-created applications.
