At first with Reading books only I thought I could never fill it, but it fills up quickly once you load up Audible Audio books. The Audible books for Kindle are in a larger format since they are in a higher quality mode over the standard Audible Modes. What compounds this is that you cannot download audio books over 3G (only Wi-Fi or USB). So it limits your ability to pull them down while traveling away from home.

Thanks. Yes, audiobooks would certainly explain it! I use my iPhone for them.

Besides audiobooks, I also load up classical music. I like to listen to music when I read. Yet another reason for additional storage.

Number two on the list is my iPod touch. That stays home pretty much all the time. Except for traveling (net access), I have no need to take it out of the house. The vast majority of the time, it sits in a speaker dock. Then comes my Kindle. What I like most about it is the audio player and speakers. I can play a nice classical mix while reading. When I get tired of reading, I'll fire up an audiobook. I've never used headphones with it. Granted, the speakers aren't all that loud, they're still loud enough for my needs. Like my iPod, my Kindle stays at home.

I really want Amazon to add a Kindle Books Subscription service. I want to be able to sign up, for $15 per month or something, to read whatever I want from the Kindle Store. They can have their actuaries and finance people dig into average readership and think of a price where they can make a good profit, but for people who want to read a lot of books that are still in copyright, let us sign up for a subscription plan. I'd love that.

But for that I'd also want to keep all the books I read. If it was just access I was buying, I'd expect it to be $15/month or less.

Zune Pass (is that still around) and Spotify have a similar service for music. All you can eat for a monthly fee... but you don't own anything. (Well actually Zune pass included 10 songs that you "buy" per month.) However, at the rate I read, about 1 book a month I doubt the price would be worth it for me. BOb
