interesting story about GPL V3 violators:

Going after Hamstersoft\

it also looks like Facebook doesn't give a romeo alpha about copyright violations - i wonder how Zuckerberg would feel if a company released a copy of its own Facebook using Facebook's code, wrapped in a binary blob?

That's the trouble with freely released stuff, under license or actually public domain. The unscrupulous will grab it, fiddle with it a bit, and try to sell it to the gullible.
