If the kindle DX had an SD card slot, and a better browser and a much better PDF rendering engine it might have given the iPad some competition, but the DX really was designed as an eBook reader. I think the difference in acceptance between the two is instructive. Last edited by 6charlong; 07-31-2011 at 12:49 PM. Reason: misspelled a critical word

The article (or collection of charts) is a mess. Some of its weirdness can be explained by the fact that it is measuring different things - e-reader market share in the US vs. global tablet sales, for example. But other things make so little sense that they must be wrong: According to this chart, about 12% of e-reader users use their e-reader to read blogs, watch movies (!), or do word processing. And something like 25% use their e-readers for web browsing. This can't be correct - even considering a rooted NC as an e-reader, the numbers are much too high. |

I think the message is some people prefer readers for reading, some people prefer tablets. Some people with tablets will read on them because of convenience (like reading on a phone), since they are carrying it anyway. And there are some people with no desire for a tablet, but read a lot and want a reader. And of course, there are those who don't want either. |

Nor room for yet more anti-company rants... and I mean any anti-company rants... it is now beyond boring and well past irritating... get a life and if you can't contribute a relevant quote then don't bother... Just like the quote above...
