Yes, I have many reasons for being here, doing this. The reasons sound good to me...

Yes, MR is very addictive! I need my "fix" here every morning, and I sometimes return later in the day as well--often several times.

During a long MR session my judgement becomes impaired significantly and the frequency of mistakes/blunders/misunderstandings increases. The number of incidents increases as it gets toward closing time in this place.

But wait…. Lightbulb! It's like Vegas, there is no closing time. The lights are always on. The party never stops. Is that what DiapDealer and carpetmojo implied about time? What is a month? What did you do yesterday?

Anyway, DreamWriter implies it's possible to leave and get things done. - At least temporarily. So there's hope for us all.

I took a vacation for two weeks to a place where there was no connectivity. Yes, there were phones but no internet and the most I missed was scrolling through the comments on MR. Off course I had gone with my wife books but still couldn't stop myself from thinking about various forums here..
Is this addiction? Well, actually not! The addiction is part where I am online most of the time without posting much.
Off course, I don’t post much but I am one of those lurkers who don’t fall under the Wikipedia definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lurker - Seriously?) I don’t post much because generally I don’t have anything more to say than what has already been said.
MR is 50 % of my total web usage when I am not watching videos..Should I get life? Or it is life?

Full Disclosure: MobileRead is never far away. I'm usually working on the computer during the day, and I must admit that when I'm not actively reading posts here, I do have MobileRead minimized in a browser window so I can compulsively check when the urge strikes.

I'm still wondering where you found the last two through MR. lol. Is there a super secret level of MR that I don't know about?

Woke up sluggish and with MR-induced headache - eyestrain from long computer session yesterday. Like a hangover. Though this isn't quite as intense. According to my addictive-person's inherent/brain-wired encyclopedia of addictive behaviors, the cure is hair-of-the-dog, so I'm back.

I like lurking. I'd rather listen and not speak than speak for the sake of speaking with nothing much to say. But silence in social settings is my natural introspective stance, so sometimes I make an effort to communicate. Booze used to be my crutch for that. Anyway, the word lurker has sinister connotations, so I prefer to use the label "Silent People." There are usually many of us at social gatherings that the louder (dare I say 'more obnoxious'?) people rarely even notice.

Denial is a river washing people out to sea to drown in their troubles. If they first survive the crocodiles.

I can't do that. I tried. MR is too distracting to me just knowing it's there. I admire your strength of will.

The super-secret global spy network that doesn't exist and no one knows about won't let us talk about the super-secret inner-chambers of MR that don't exist and no one knows about. Paranoia can be a healthy mechanism even for addictive people.

On second thought, I misused the steps there. It should be to make amends to all the real life people whose lives were adversely affected by my ignoring them for hours and days at a time while on MR.
