I like the keyboard as well. I like being able to type out quick notes or annotations on the books I'm reading for my classes.

I prefer a keyboard too and I think the one on the K3 is ideal. But I fear Amazon will follow the herd on this one and go to touch-screen.

For that reason alone, I hope they always keep a Kindle with a real keyboard in their stable. As far as touch goes, as long as I don't have to use it for anything I currently do with the Kindle... I'm cool with it. Last edited by DiapDealer; 07-30-2011 at 02:20 PM.

I called Amazon and asked for a return. Amazon not only let me return my K2 they emailed me the shipping labels so the return was free. They did not even make it a condition that I buy the K3 for the free return.

I tend to tuck up in bed, with my kindle in one hand, changing page by rocking my thumb slightly. A touchscreen which had to be swiped to change page wouldn't let me do that. Touchscreen fine, but don't take my page turn buttons please! |

On my e-reader, Kindle, I don't see the point. I have the Kindle because I cannot stand reading e-books on my tablet computer(iPad 2). It really makes my eyes hurt after 10 minutes. Reading on the Kindle is a real joy. Still not as good as reading a real book but close enough. I also prefer the page turn buttons. (unless Amazon invents a sensor that tracks my eye movement and automatically turn the page 1 second after my eyes focus on the very last word of the page... is this too far-fecthed or will we see this in the not too distant future?)

It really is OK to not like touch screens.

I would hope that they keep the keyboard (or at least offer a model with the keyboard in addition to a touch-screen model). I don't hate touch screens, just don't want one on my ereader (nook color aside, that's more for a tablet than for a reader). And, if/when Amazon announces the Kindle 4, just de-register your K3 and sell it to recoup some of the money you spent on it, then buy the new one. |

The Kindle keyboard needs to become less obtrusive while at the same time becoming more functional, definitely hard to pull off, but I guess we'll find out soon.

There are only rumors about a Kindle 4 (or there are people who want to believe there will be a Kindle 4), facts are that Amazon will/would like to bring 3 devices to the market, two tablets in 7" and 10" sizes (those will be definitely touch LCD devices) and one 9" device, which is the most mysterious at the moment. So if there will be an e-ink device, it could be the 9" variant. Amazon always kept their newest devices in secret until their announcement, we'll just have to wait Last edited by norti; 07-31-2011 at 06:49 AM. |
