The Old Testament has a talking serpent and a talking donkey and you are obviously talking about a different Old Testament.

I hope that this does not mean that the Bible [Old Testament] is going to be selected as book club winner anytime soon. I read it completely through once as it certainly rates as one of the most historically significant books ever written [assembled?] But once was enough. A totally disproportionate reward or punishment would have to be in the offing to induce me to slog through Numbers again.

Thus I vote you pick the Brick Testament version of the Old Testament, which is made of purest awesome and entertainment and Lego™, should the need arise. Though they don't seem to have gotten around to depicting Numbers yet. PS for JSWolf, who nominated it: The [talking] Burning Bush. In glorious Lego™-vision!

Apart from second chance month, can we please not have any repeated genres?

I don't look at a second non-fiction as being necessarily a repeated genre. There are so many sub-catagories within non-fiction. The selection could be a book on health, science, history, geo-politics—the list is endless. And after all, that still leaves 10 months of fiction.

Two months for non-fiction seem like a fair balance to me. I think all would have to tread lightly when it comes to subject matter though. Quote:

Here's the summery as I've read it. We have two classic categories. We've already used one. The next is coming up in December. Everyone so far who has chimed in has agreed to do away with the second classic. Nobody has spoken up saying to keep it. So in that case given how classic is not a good category and we botched it last time since a classic is not just public domain and/or old. So now we have a month with no topic. What do we want that topic to be? |
