As stated in the OP, July 26 is when Amazon reports Q2 2011 (sales ending Jun 30th) earnings and performance to its shareholders and the financial analysts. They usually like to have good news to report that day or a day or two ahead of the meeting to soften everyone up with smiles. |

Oh, rest assured you are in the overwhelming majority. Prepare to be quoted extensively, you just summarized the attitude of the mainstream, real-world ebook buying public. "I don't read epub, I read ebooks." | |

I'll wait and see... especially for the possible eink device. But a new Android tablet? No thanks. Really happy with my iPad 2; I actually bought a new one for my wife. I am really happy not just because the hardware but the tons of app. I have and I am able to download, including GoodReader for PDF and kindle app itself, which it is better than the Android counterpart, in my opinion. Love my new Android phone but there is a lot of road to make and walk in terms of Android apps for big screens. I will start to consider when I can see enough and quality Android apps for Honeycomb. October?!? Does that mean I should wait until then to decide whether or not to grab the $139 deal that started this week?

If you think that a touch screen, perhaps at a higher price point, is for you then it might be worth waiting. But if so, the Nook or Kobo are available now. The new basic Kindle in October will be $99 or less, but at this price it might not have 3G (perhaps WiFi only) and will presumably be similar to the Kindle 3. To me, it isn't worth waiting 3 months to save $40.
