My workflow is from Amazon to K4PC to Calibre to my Kindle. That way I'm sure whatever I have in Calibre and on the Kindle is DRM free.

Yes. And for me, the big reason for using Calibre to manage the transfer to my Kindle is that it lets me use Calibre to add series and series order information into the name of the book that gets put on the Kindle.

Do you add that info right to the title or do you use a separate column for series and series order?

Series and series order is already a standard column in Calibre. I just added a metadata plugboard of: {series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title}. This will add Series and Series Index to the title of a book whenever the series has more than two books in it. It doesn't change the filename in the Calibre filestructure, but does change the title when I transfer it to the Kindle.

The K4PC route allows me to get my book into Calibre without having to plug the Kindle in. I'll admit I am a bit lazy so my Kindle books often have their DRM if I want to read them when I buy them, or I use Calibre to email them to my Kindle. It saves the hassle of plugging the device into my computer (i.e. I'm lazy).

Doh! This would have helped my wife with her K2 when she had it. She would just rename all her books manually.

Very occasionally, I like to read a newspaper or magazine while I'm sitting at my desk - usually when I'm working on my desktop PC and want to take a short break. It's sometimes easier to fire up the Kindle application than to fetch my physical Kindle.

Mine is Amazon to Calibre to Kindle. I know some like to visually check the book in K4PC before adding it to Calibre, but I prefer to keep fewer pieces in play. If I ever start seeing problems with books I add, I might put K4PC back into the process.
