the DB IS your Library. Any other DB is just junk (as far as your Library is concerned )Zip Up Metadata.db and be prepared to sent it to Kovid when asked. |

Run this command and it will fix your broken metadata.db automatically:
Code:
calibre-debug -c "from calibre.utils.config import prefs; import os, sqlite3; db = os.path.join(prefs['library_path'], 'metadata.db'); conn = sqlite3.connect(db); schema = conn.execute('pragma user_version=21'); conn.commit()"

Ah, that did the trick. Thanks, Kovid!
Next time, promise, I'll remember to close Calibre before installing updates. Silly n00b move... Marilyn |

Just a brief update Since your last message I have been extremely busy due to a serious illness in the family leaving me in charge of 4 young grandchildren so have not had time to get back to you. Version monitoring software I run has since informed me by email that I was not on the latest Calibre version and that it was 0.8.8 that I was missing. Thus when I thought I had an issue it did happen going from 0.8.6 to 0.8.7 On that occasion Calibre informed me on startup that there was a newer version (first time I have seen that - i am a recent user and started on 0.8.3 I think and have always been informed of new versions by the version tracking sioftware and installed without opening Calibre first) and I proceeded to install from within Calibre and then couldnt open my database having done so. Anyway that is now history - I have now downloaded and installed 0.8.8 but have not yet had time to run with it. I expect to do so over the weekend and will get back to you if the database problem recurs. |
