Actually, if you want a free ipod touch, and live in an eligible state and are willing to jump through some banking hoops, Key Bank is giving away the ipod touch (at least until tomorrow):

The only catch, apart from monitoring all the transaction requirements, is you owe income tax on its value, but I've gotten an ipod touch, an ipod nano, and a GPS unit from them for free.

There have also been rumors of a larger ipod touch, or mini ipad, whatever you want to call it, which if it had a Retina display and a larger screen, would be an ideal ereader for me.

To all of you who are waiting for the 5th generation iPod Touch to be released: You’re Welcome.

A couple of days ago I ordered myself a refurbished 4th generation, 32 gig iPod Touch to replace my 2nd generation (the one my toddler decided to give a bath). And since I have lousy timing with these sorts of things, Steve Jobs should be announcing the latest generation aaaaaaaaaaany minute now (I’m pretty sure he’s just been waiting for me to place my order).

Did you try placing the 2nd generation in a bag of uncooked rice for a couple of days? Rice soaks up water/moister like a sponge and this often drys out wet electronics enough to get them operating again.

Unfortunately, it was on when my daughter decided to give it a bath AND she tried to turn it on before coming to me with the soaking wet iPod (water was actually pouring out from inside of it!) saying, "Mama! It's broken! Fix it, mama! Fix it!"

After we allowed it to dry out for several days and it still wouldn't turn on, the other half decided to pop it open (he's an electrical and computer systems engineer) to look over the components and most of them were completely fried.

Woah, don't think I'll ever have kids now. I did enough dropping my iPhone into the toilet and trying to turn it on immediately afterwards.

I just bought a refurbished 3rd generation (I really don't like the iPod camera and the retina display is great but I'll wait for the 5th in case the camera improves).

The only rumour I've heard is the Home button will now be a touch control. Makes sense. I too got the impression they're just trying to promote the App Store. That said, I never even glanced at the App store before I got an iPod Touch soooo chicken before the egg?

Frankly, that I don't like. I appreciate having actual buttons so I don't have to look at the screen all the time.
