@friktion - I'm afraid I haven't tried mobi or prc formats, but if you use Calibre to manage your eBooks (which I'd HIGHLY recommend), then it will convert and store mutliple formats for you, quickly and fuss-free.

I've read all of them on mine except FB2, which I don't use. I tried three different PRC books. No luck, either. Anyone figure out the trick?

I've found this site really handy: http://www.freewarelovers.com/android
It will give you a list of various versions so you can select the Cupcake one, i.e., 1.5 Android. |

ES_File_Explorer_Cupcake_1.4.8.6 from the link I just posted above. I'm happy with it so far. You have to click through a few menus, but it will start a book directly then instead of the cumbersome firmware. Thanks everyone for your input too! Maybe together we can figure out the bugs! |

protective cover
I picked up a Griffen "Jumper for eReaders" protective neoprene cover at Walmart today for $19 Cdn. Although it says it is for ereaders up to 7.5" (and the Libre Touch is 8") it works fine. It has a very soft fabric inside and seems to be well put together.

@dhighway: I do use Calibre, have used it for a few years now. BUT I'd like to be able to input the mobi/prc or epubs directly. I use Sigil to fix up epubs I want to send to the Kindle, and add the first page "comments" which I find invaluable.
I actually have bought quite a few books (had a Sony700 originally, then Kindle3 which I still have), but I can't even get at the ones I buy without getting a lot of baloney about putting in my ADE or Kindle pid #. I seriously hunt down places to BUY my books without any DRM because I'm fed up dealing with it! ![]() Also (as I mentioned) I could stick with my Kindle if I only want to have one format to choose from books. But I don't - I want to be able to buy the book I want, from the places I want, in the formats I want. ![]() @fglaysher: Thank you, I will try that app ("Cupcake"). |

Yeah, drm is a pain. I don't believe it's going to make it in the long run. Most people just aren't tech savvy enough to use it, including me. Too many problems with the sites for books, ade, etc., as you say...
I'm starting to really like this Libre, anyone else? |

Sounds good. I used a generic one for a day to take the Libre Touch to a coffee shop. It worked fine, but I'd still prefer a leather case that would attach and then flip open to protect it. I'm sure probably some company will catch up in a few months or so and make one...

I just got me reader on Saturday. It is my first reader and I am enjoying it so far. I have one question atm, does anyone know how or if you can change the home screen? Any other assistance would be great. I did take the advice and purchase the griffin sleeve case. I wish it was more like a book cover tho I could not find anything at all like this. I also purchased the blackberry fingerprint and scratch saver cover for the screen. I had to cut it to fit but other than that it is great covers the whole screen.

Weight is important!!!! (at least for me!) and to tell the truth I doubt the 7 ounces the company mentions on its website (Cybook Gen3 with eink weighs 6.13 ounces which I'm really happy with its weight, can't say enough). One of the owners mentioned he/she also doubted the 7 ounces. Can someone please weigh the device. If I decide to buy this it's only because of its weight (7 ounces) ... if the plastic looks cheap or it quirks a little bit, it is not *that* responsive to touch etc. (even Android 1.5! No Kindle?

fglaysher, pretty much the top of the list when I googled "Moon+ reader for android 1.5", links at the bottom for v1.3:
http://www.mydroid.info/android-apps...ader-pro-v1-3/ I won't vouch for the apk file since I really have no device for testing it and I have no desire to set up the dev environment for android again heh. |
