You press the button on the left edge (Nook, not Kobo).

I've got to be honest it's really not that challenging.

Using swipes to turn pages is nice gimmick, but it is very difficult thing to do with just one hand.

Actually the ability to swipe one-handed is one of the great things about the Sony 350--it recognizes a small swipe gesture with my thumb. (This does not work on the Android devices I've tried, which seem to need the swipe to start on on side of the middle and cross over the middle.)

You should try the new devices to see whether a one-handed swipe works or not.

it works on the nook color which is android, you can swipe back and forth no matter where your thumb is located.

I'm just giving you guys a hard time. But I must say, that the movement involved in a thumb "swipe" is considerably more pronounced than a simple downward press of a thumb--a thumb that is already in the exact right spot.

I don't have a problem with touch being added... as long as it doesn't affect the way I'm used to reading. One. bit.

The same is true on my Sony 950. I find it easy to read with one hand. In fact, you don't even have to touch the Sony screen for the swipe to work. I do admit that it took a half-hour or so before I learned how to do the swipe consistently one handed.

I have no doubt at all that Amazon planned the news release of the $164 Special Offer 3G to coincide with Barnes and Nobles press event. Jeff Bezos didn't get to where he is by being a clueless idiot.

As for what will Amazon do - they'll announce their rumored Android Tablet in the fall as competition for both Barnes and Apple.

I suspect the Kindle 4 is in the works and I believe it will be some sort of color eInk or similar type and I fear it will integrate a touch screen somehow as that seems to be what most people desire.

But as it, the Kindle line-up more than competes with the nook/nook color and the Amazon Website as the entire media solution music/books/movies far exceeds Barnes and Noble. In short, Amazon will continue to evolve, just like always.

When it comes time to replace my current ereader, I'll just look for a working used K2--if none of the newer dinguses have made any serious improvements. Since I only use mine to read books (from beginning to end; lather, rinse, repeat), I can't see me being tempted by anything less than a piece of e-paper that responds to retinal commands.
Awesome, a K2 hold-out.

Finally someone does what I intended him do to with this thread: Speculation! Thank you!

Already answered this one here.

Now I'm waiting for the first one to ask me how he should turn pages without hands nor feet:

Just a few things: I'd like to see the 'HD' screen (6" 1024x768) like the one iRiver Story HD uses, multitouch enabled, no keyboard, better web browser integration (e.g. ability to 'clip' articles for off line reading), faster CPU for better responsiveness, ability to zoom/pan images (maps, etc.) like you can with Kindle4iOS, PDF reflow and PDF link support, auto-rotation (accelerometer enabled), accelerometer regulated scrolling mode to eliminate the need to touch the device to turn pages, reading statistics to monitor reading speed and progress, blutooth for wireless audio and keyboard support, native ePub support (I will settle for non DRM for now), for $99 or less. Oh, and voice control.
