			It really astonishes me that stuff like this happens.  I've seen businesses (e.g., cafes or restaurants) that had open Wifi, and I guess that's understandable, but for a private home to not secure their Wifi is just frightening to me.  Password-protecting your network isn't rocket science.

			The main point about wi-fi protection : use WPA. Not WEP, or worse, noting. And a long WPA pass phrase to resist attempt with brute force. Mac addresses can be spoofed, ssid can be found too (Some software DO display networks with hidden ssid). It's useless if someone can listen to what your computer says to the network, and find out ssid or mac address. High encryption level is what will make your wi-fi safe.
