New version of Kindle for PC
Version 1.5.0 of Kindle for PC seems to be finding it's way onto people's computers. I will not upgrade to 1.5.0. You can make up your own mind.

I probably won't upgrade because later versions of K4PC don't seem to play nice with Wine, but what kind of red flags are you seeing?

Thanks for the information. I just downloaded Kindle for PC to: 1.5.0 (32337). The only new feature was the use of the Kindle Download Manager compared to just a straight download as in the past.

There's a new version of Kindle for Mac: 1.5.1. This hasn't caused me any problems.

A quick look through the registry suggests that Periodical functionality may be (or is gearing up to soon be) enabled. I don't subscribe to any periodicals to be able to check. Anybody?

You should get the option, but you can disable the auto-update feature completely in the settings. That's what I recommend (plus keeping a copy of the last functioning version on hand).
