Just a comment that many of us turn off signatures, myself included, so we don't see them.

Re: Jane Eyre, I personally think it's because it's not a well-written story, whereas P&P is rock solid.

Let the tomato-throwing commence....

Oops, sorry. I didn't think of that. I was also trying to be subtle as I don't want to come across as advertising my own stuff, but found the thread interesting and wanted to discuss!

There are a lot of Austen fans who just can't get enough P&P, in all different configurations and mashups and however it's offered. It's the best-known Austen and the best-loved. Stuff related to the other novels IS out there, but takes some looking for, and often is published by indies or self-published.

As to Jane Eyre--I'm re-reading it right now in preparation for seeing the movie. I like it--but not as much as Jane Austen. After reading NA, I tend to giggle at Gothics. But Jane Eyre has literary fan fiction, Wide Sargasso Sea, which is more than Jane Austen can say, unfortunately. I'm waiting for that literary Austen paraliterature. I don't think I'm the person to write it, but there has to be someone out there!

Sharon Shinn's _Jenna Starborn_ is another _Jane Eyre_ spinoff and quite good.
