Firmware Update Simplest method to register your Kindle w/2.5.x firmware, if you live outside US - Page 8

First of all i would thank to thank Nifty and Sir Alex, as well as all the other posters.
Second, at first i was havening trouble with the process. I couldnt even do step one as was posted here on page one. The update kindle was inactive. Here is what worked for me.

This is a K3 (b006) running Version 3.0.3.

Step one: Jailbreak with 0.4.N
Installed: update_jailbreak_0.4.N_k3g_install In the Root
Disconnected and ran an update, update was successful.

Step two: i copied, update_reginfo_0.01_k3g_install AND (my edited ) reginfo
Into the root. Disconnected, ran update.

Worked like a charm!

You guys rock and saved me from my nightmare!

I have DX graphite, B009 , Came from US & Software version is 2.5.5.
I did exactly as the instructions but the "Update your kindle" is disabled after copying both Jailbreak & Reginfo, I've did the update by doing a restart,
Got error 0003 for jailbreak (which said to be OK) & got it again for reginfo,
The whole thing didn't worked for me,
What should i do mates?

I've found out the problem with jail break, It was my fault. I didn't choose the right Bin,
The k3g file caused "Update your Kindle" to be enabled, which i've did,
But there's no update_reginfo file, neither 0.1 nor 0.2, which enables "update your kindle",
I think because it is not compatible some how with my Kindle DXG.
What should i do now?

P.S: I've tested Sir Alex Files too,Both k3g & k3gb, No go.
None of 01,02,001 worked. What should i do?

P.S #2 : I have tested ALL reg update files, one by one but no go, I'm going to bang my head against the wall! what i'm doing wrong?

Be careful with editing reginfo.ini - you must use Latin symbols only!

You have to follow these advanced steps:

If you can not work with USBNetwork and Linux command-line do the following steps:

1- Uninstall all hacks you have been installed as a first step.
2- Try the new Jailbreak from NiLuJe, then try reginfo-0.1 hack again.
3- Be sure that reginfo.xml file is in correct syntax, in exact path and without extension: "reginfo" only.
4- After all if these doen't work you have to try the full reset for your device.
5- Update your Kindle to latest good firmware for you.
6- Install the new Jailbreak from NiLuJe and new hacks you want, which they are compatible with your device version.
7- Don't use old hacks, or hacks for another version of Kindle, if you have Kindle DX don't use Kindle3 hack for it and so on.

Sorry I don't understand in what case this procedure is needed...

I bought a Kindle DXG and sent to the home of a friend of mine on USA and he sent to me with DHL to Israel.
I received it two days ago and I successfully registered it using the standard procedure.

Actually I can create collections and use the browser without any problem.
The Kindle came with version 2.5.5 and yesterday I downloaded on my pc the 2.5.7 update and installed successfully.

I'm a lucky person or this update is needed if you buy using an address outside USA?

This update is only needed if you can't register your Kindle in right way (via 3G or Wi-Fi).

I am having trouble registering my new Kindle by wireless, all I really want to do is to be able to use collections. It is a Kindle DX Graphite, serial number beginning B009. Just today I updated to firmware version 2.5.8.

I tried the method outlined in this thread. The first step, installing Jailbreak for Kindle FW 2.5.5 seemed to go fine. But when I then try the update reginfo, the option "Update Your Kindle" is grayed out. I tried version 0.1 and 0.2a.

I appear to have the same issue as slick - with each of the available update_reginfo packages indicated in this thread, the Kindle appears to delete the .bin file somewhere between when Home->Menu->Settings is selected, and when the Menu key is pressed after entering the settings screen.

Any thoughts?

Jailbreak i (kindle-jailbreak-0.6.N) and tried all of the above "update_reginfo" files but didnt work
