Comparison Chart: Motorola XOOM Vs. IPad
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/01/23/comparison-chart-motorola-xoom-vs-ipad/ Well this more more accurately shows why the Xoom is priced how it is but I would still like a non 3g version as I already have my android phone for wifi tethering. |

Those prices are sure to come down. You know what they say . . . don't buy version one of anything.

You gotta love a price/spec comparison between a produc that's been shipping for nine months and one that isn't out yet. Lee |

I don't understand your comment. We're comparing iPad 1 and Xoom? Or did I miss something? Quote:
Again, don't understand because if we're talking tablets, and that's what this thread's about, iPad's got the lion's share. That aside, the two cameras have got some real potential. With a bit of imagination there's gonna' be some killer apps for that gadget. AND no FLASH hangups! Half the sites these days won't view on the iPad. | |

Specs barely matter. There were plenty of portable digital audio players that, on paper, far out-spec'ed the iPod. Apple still smashed the competition into the ground. If the Android tablets genuinely do produce a better user experience, and one of the manufacturers is as skilled as Apple at the marketing, then we'll have a basis for comparison... namely sales and market share. |

Just a quick comment about memory. Even when the Xoom probably is and will feel faster, the RAM won't tell the whole story. If the Os handles the apps better, you barely notice that. An example:Windows vs Lubuntu. On same machine with same RAM, Lubuntu is way much faster because the way it uses memory. Apple Os is not truly multitasking which helps the iPad when running apps on it, gives more "air" to the whole system. Of course, not saying Honeycom is bad, but all those fancy GUIs don't come free, they use lot of resources. |

And the Xoom is more expensive than the article suggested it would be. Should of had a column for apps Xoom 16 IPad 60,000 Lee |

Ridiculous. Just ask the Nook color users. Most android apps scale to different sized displays fine. I've only encountered a couple of free chintzy games that didn't. I can run weather apps, winamp, gmail, all of that stuff - all scales up fine. It's not the same as the "ipod apps run in little windows" syndrome that apple had. I assume because Android has always supported many different hardware configurations.

you can see from the landscape position of the standard selling picture that they are after the computer geeks crowd. Unfortunately, these people are hell bent on their Crysis-benchmarking harware full with 1000-keys keyboards and mouse. too bad, since Android grew out of smartphones, where the rule is portrait mode... |

That's quite an assumption to make. The iPad can easily go into landscape mode as well, much like the XOOM can go into portrait mode. I think you might be making way too much out of a picture.
