Costs less than 1 pound, shock proof, and semi water proof. Now that's a bargain.

That is a frugal alternative. Except it doesn't have an outside pocket and opening and closing would become an issue.

definitely real leather. unsplit, what we used to call belly hide that was used for moccasin soles and some parts of saddles

I've had my new kindle for a week and am using the m-edge cover which I got free w/purchase of the Kindle 3 at Bestbuy. It's not bad (and a pretty Valentine Red color) but the tongue-style flap closure gets in my way, and it already seems a bit worn where it bends. Also, this case has an extra 1" to the left, then an approximately 3/4" spine as well. That extra 1" to the left is probably for a light to fold down. I don't have a light at the moment, and that inch to the left seems cumbersome.

I'm tempted by the Oberon, as it looks slim-lined and has a wool felt interior. I suspect the tooled leather may be heavy though?

The tongue thing bothered me at first as well, until I realized that I could fold it back and tuck it into its slot on the front cover.

The Oberon covers are irresistible though --- I know that it's inevitable that I will be getting one...

I bought this case at Borders store. It's an Ex-Point Anthracite eReader Sleeve for Kobo which I use for the Kindle 3. It sticks out just a tiny bit at the top, but it's perfect otherwise. The clasp is magnetic. I keep the case in the front pocket of my backpack and slide it out to read when I'm traveling. The main reason I didn't get a book-type cover is because I wanted to be able to read it one-handed on public transportation.

I came into this thread to see if anyone had an experience with the Oberon covers because I am seriously considering getting one. My husband bought me a K3 and cover for Valentine's day, but he says he thinks he can pawn the cover off onto one of his coworkers. (They are constantly enabling each other to buy things they don't need.)

I haven't seen the reader covers in person, but I did see some of the Oberon journals -- inside of a store display case -- when I was on vacation last summer and I thought they were beautiful.

I was so sad that I didn't get one for my Sony before they discontinued them and I confess that my first thought when I opened the Kindle was, "Now I can get an Oberon cover!"

All of the comments in this thread have been very positive, so now I just have to decide on style and cover!

I got Mr Manou an Oberon cover for his Kindle DX for Christmas (sky dragon in black). He absolutely loves it. When he bought his Kindle DX last summer, he bought an Amazon cover with it. That has not been used since he has the Oberon cover.

Hmm. In the few weeks I've had mine, I've been using it, so I can't say for sure.
I have noticed it needing a charge a few time when I didn't expect it, but I attributed it to my regular use of wireless.

I'll have to monitor this and see. This would be disappointing.

indeed. but i've looked it up on the net and other users seem fine D: i mean, it would be hard to believe if it continued to consume battery even when not in use, and even when the kindle is in sleep mode.
