Mmmm, yeah!! I saw 42nd Street live in London, in the summer of 1987 .... and have wondered since if, just maybe, I actually saw Catherine Zeta-Jones in the lead. I've no way to know, but her bio says she was doing it about that time! | |

Anyone ever see "They're Playing Our Song"? I saw it live, at Chicago's Candlelite Dinner Theatre. Twice, in fact, because they did an encore performance a few months (years?) later. I've listened to the original cast CD ever since then, and found that Lucie Arnaz is surprisingly talented! A clearer picture is here, but it's only the second half of the song, where Lucie hears HER lyrics on the air. The version above gives a better feel for what the musical is about -- he writes music, she writes lyrics. I WISH somebody would do this one again. I'd love to see it! Best musical I ever saw was Phantom of the Opera in London. My second favorite is West Side Story. In more recent times, I enjoyed Swing! and Wicked - don't think anyone's mentioned those yet.

I always thought I wouldn't like musicals until my wife dragged me along to see Joseph (with Philip Schofield) many years ago. It was great! We also went to London to see The Lion King with my son, that too was very enjoyable. On the down side, my wife also made me go and see Heathcliff, Cliff Richard's musical based on Wuthering Heights. That's two hours of my life I won't get back - absolutely dreadful! |

From the Broadway production less than ideal video, but the best I could find. I really enjoyed the show Last edited by obs20; 02-10-2011 at 08:36 AM. |

How about Silence! The Musical (based on the Silence of the Lambs). The entire soundtrack is available for listening from the composers' website here. |
