Thank You. Checked and it wasn't there. ent to the backup apks and installed it again and it shows up in Application Manager but didn't reset yet.

Just reset and it's gone again.

So............it seems to install but doesn't stick through a reboot. And it doesn't show up as a keyboard till after a reboot?

Well that's good. That keyboard doesn't show up in Astro for me either. I'll send you a link (private message) to my Dropbox. You can retrieve the .apk from there.

Did you rename the apk or is yours com.dasur........apk?

I renamed it so I would know what it is outside of the folder.

I don'tknow what's different about your apk other than being renamed, but it finally worked.

And it shows in the app drawer and extras.

Yay!!! You're welcome. Make sure you save that file (in a couple of places).

You may want to use a better back up app. I use MyBackUp Pro, there are others.

Hey, Scion, the keys on this are tall and skinny, and I'm mistyping quite a bit. I suppose that this is conducive to the swipe gestures, but dang, are there some tweaks for it somewhere?

Not that I'm aware of. You could use landscape though when you're not swyping. The keys are perfect squares in that mode.

Even though there are some issues using swype on this particular keyboard, it is still WAY easier than typing "two handed" phone style. My hands weren't big enough to type that way and typing one handed was like going back to the first day of typing class in highschool (i.e. it was PAINFUL).

Is there a way to get to the keyboard settings to I can make some changes (such as automatically adding a period at the end of a sentence)?

ETA: OOOH...I found it. Select the ?123 keyboard and there is a button for settings.

SCION, I installed slidit but have an issue I can't seem to resolve.

When I open slideit, say for a search, it will respond with a message that says
that I need to be connected to the Internet and logged into my Goggle account
to obtain license validation.

After I purchased SlideIt, I moved it and changed the permissions as you
recommended. But, it was named "com.dasur.slideit.apk". Also in my Market
downloads it said "Purchased" instead of "Installed".

In an attempt to fix this I renamed the app to slideit.apk.

This fixed the Market link and it now says "Installed".

But I still have to be connected to the Internet to use slidit.

Any ideas?

The stock keyboard should still be available for use. You may have to change the file name back to what it ws originally. Check the /system/app directory. The stock keyboard is LatinIMe.apk. The extension may have been changed so that the keyboard is not called. I changed mine to LatinIME.bak. Anyway, rename it back to LatinIME.apk and you'll get the stock keyboard back. Hey Scion -- when you say "stock" keyboard, do you mean the one that originally came with the NC, or the one we get after rooting? I prefer the original, factory setting keyboard, so it would be great to have that choice. I have the LatinIMe.apk file in my system/app directory, and the permissions are the same as all the other files, but my only keyboard choices in NookColor Tools are Multitouch (the standard rooted kb, which I don't like) and Gingerbread (which doesn't work without a lot of finagling, apparently).

My LatinIMe.apk is dated August 1, 2008 along with all of the stock files in /system/app. If yours doesn't have the same date as the rest of the stock files in that directory, then it appears that autonooter replaced the stock keyboard with the multi-touch one.

I kept my stock keyboard and renamed it LatinIMe.bak so that it's not called. My multi-touch keyboard is in /data/app and named com.android.inputmethod.latin.apk. This is because I manually rooted and didn't have NOOKcolor Tools (at the time I installed it) to select keyboards. Check and see if you have this in the same location.

Let us know what you find.

Edit: Just to add...before I reset and return to stock, I'll have to rename LatinIMe.bak to LatinIMe.apk otherwise I won't have a keyboard.

When you are able to connect to the Internet, and it prompts you for verification, does it take you through the verification process? Is there something you need to click on to do this? I'm dumbfounded because I've never had that prompt.

No. It's a box and it has an e-mail address in it. If I don't connect to the internet
it closes the keyboard. If I connect, the box goes away and in about 10 to 15
seconds later, another box pops up and says "License has been validated".

Rats. I was hoping you knew what was going on. I searched all over and couldn't
find a thing. However, I installed just as you did this morning before I went to
work. The part where I renamed but you click on install. Didn't fix the license
issue but at least the Market knows it's installed now.

It's too bad really, I like the keyboard. Awesome!
