Maybe Kindle version is very different from the one I provided the link for? My lamp has a long and very flexible neck so it is very easy to position it just on the side of the screen and under the right angle so I get even coverage. I must confess I use it on its maximum light setting only. As result, I can position it far enough from the screen and I have zero glare. Some people might remember me when I was choosing my first light almost 4 years ago. We didn't have super bright LEDs back then. I am very choosy and over sensitive to the glare. The only light that had bright enough light and didn't have any glare was Verilux. It was heavy, but I preferred heavy one to LED based lamps with glare. Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 LED Light? Weight little, very bright. Hold charge for a long time. Hope it helps

I had a dealextreme light recommended in a thread- it works good, but only when the e-reader is in the case. I ended up mostly using a Nook Lyra light...it's got a much better neck for angling the light. My wife has the same for her Kindle 2. As far as CR2032 batteries being too expensive...see here: $3.43 for 20x of them. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.751 |

 Mighty Bright TravelFlex?

Does anyone have the Mighty Bright TravelFlex and if so, how do you like it? Hubby is not liking my new toy at bedtime, so I am shopping for a light and this one caught my eye: I like the fact that it uses only 1 AA battery (easily replaced) and thus seems slimmer and lighter and it's reasonably priced. Other thoughts? |

Or for any kind of light, you could strap this to the outside of your back pack during the day.

I have the lighted cover for my Kindle and the Mighty Brite XtraFlex2 for my Nook. I'm very pleased with them both. Prior to the Mighty Bright I was using a dollar store light and it worked ok, but it used a couple button batteries and didn't lgive off the same quality light as the Mighty Bright - of course it was $1. |

Pros: + 1 AAA lasts a long time and is cheap and easy to replace + Long neck and Bright focused light makes it easy to get good coverage + Light won't dim much before battery goes flat (pet peeve) + Strong clip holds well Cons: - Long neck makes it long -- not as portable as I'd like. - Bright light is REALLY bright. While it's focused well for an ebook sized screen, the reflected light still lights up the room more than I'd like. - Clip is long, narrow and doesn't open wide. It clips well to a cover, but not the reader itself. It's not perfect, but it's a better option than most give credit for.

Thanks fellow Georgian Dan - that's what I need to know. My only worry now is that it may be too bright for sleepy-head on the other side of the bed. I really wanted to stay away form the bulky, multi-battery, expensive light. Any suggestions out there? FWIW I do use a book type case.

Couple of potential options: M-Edge eluminator2 - I have the shorter one for the smaller Sonys. Brightness is just about right and if your reader won't flop away from your cover, it will still work. the attachment is a bit flimsy, though -- IMO, the light is great but the injection molding was poorly done. I've got a metal lined cover and replaced my clip w/ magnets -- most people don't have that option. LightWedge Verso Arc-Light and LightWedge Verso Wrap-Light- I've seen these in the store and by specs, this looks like a perfect lights - small, rechargeable, good lifespan and clips to most anything. LightWedge also has a good track record with their lighting solutions. Two catches: No Idea how bright they are and Oh-Boy they're pricey ($40)! |

I have a Mighty Brite, and 2 Kandles, but recently purchased the Amazon cover with built-in light for my Kindle 3, and I absolutely LOVE this cover/built-in light. I still use my Mighty Brite for my Nook, but if they would make a Nook cover with a built-in light I sure would buy it.

I use an EZ Light (I think its called) Music light - bought from Amazon Its great but bulky and not something I would want to travel with (works on 3 AA batteries) BUT - I bought it to clip on headboard, so it doesnt move. For travelling I have a mini clip on light from local shop (unbranded) but its a bit too dim for long term use |

Well, I ended up getting a Mighty Bright UltraThin and I'm pretty happy with it. 1) It's very slim and light weight which I like - about the size of an ultra-small flip phone, but much lighter. 2) Just the right amount of light from one LED bulb (a very small "hot spot" but nothing that really bothers me). Now, if you like your light way up above the reader you won't like this one - it's about 5" off the face and has some adjustability of angle but not really height distance. Also, if you don't use a case you wouldn't be able to use it (though it can be freestanding) as it has a metal clip which will only accommodate something thinnish. I got the light for $12 and 25 button batteries for $5 (it uses 2 which it comes with, but I don't know how much use you get out of them yet) all off Amazon shipped free w/Prime. Thanks to those who helped me with considerations! |
