PRS-650 help really needed.

Ok i was sooo pleased when i got my Sony it worked like a charm for first 2 weeks but about week ago when i tried to turn it on i got no response i tried few times without any answer from reader, i pulled out my sd card and try, nothing again, i put usb cable int it and my PC wont seen it and it wont charge, so i tried to use reset button on bottom of reader and after few tries its started.

It worked about a week but today its hang out on sleep mode screen and nothing works even reset button, when i'm press slider on top to get it out of sleep mode its blinking red 3 times and when i connect it to pc its giving red dot on right side of slider and my pc not see it and its not charge i got about 70% battery yesterday and worked fine.

Anyone experienced similar problem? I have no clue what to do

I'd contact Sony support to see if there's something you can do. But it sounds to me like a defective Reader, and you can arrange with Sony to exchange it, assuming they have no solution for you. If you purchased it locally, I'd return it and exchange it for a new Reader.

It certainly seems strange that it should suddenly behave this way, after working perfectly for two weeks. Did anything unusual happen when side-loading books? If you can get it running again, you could try re-formatting the internal memory. Make sure that you back-up all the data beforehand, though.
HOME -> Settings -> Initialization -> Format Memory -> Internal Memory
When I reformatted mine, it solved a problem that prevented me from side-loading books.

Nothing unusual happen when side-load books, il try to format memory if i can get it up and running.

Sadly i'm not bought it locally i live in Poland and it was buy in France, Sony service in Poland can't help me because they don't even know Sony make readers higher than prs-600 -_- and i'm afraid i send it back to France and when it arrive will be working fine again...

Initially, I had difficulty getting my PC to recognise the reader, and charging was very unreliable. It was an intermittent problem - sometimes present, sometimes not. I eventually discovered the cause was an old USB v1.0 port on my PC. As soon as I connected the reader to a USB 2.0 port the problem disappeared. So, make sure that the USB port on your PC is v2.0 or higher.

I subsequently ordered a dedicated charger from Amazon, in France:
The charger works fine. The advantage of using a separate charger is that you can continue using the reader, whereas it is not possible when charging via USB.

Later, after using Calibre for a while, I had difficulty side-loading books. Re-formatting solved that problem, for me. Of course, the problem with your reader might be entirely different, but if you can get it going then re-formatting might help.

So, try re-formatting and if you can afford it, get a dedicated charger, too.

If you cannot get it going you can also try to connect the reader to a PC and delete all the books.
Then hopefully you can start it up and do the reformatting.

Did you try a reset?
You know, this little pin hole next you micro USB socket?

I find sometimes mine locks up and I have to hold the reset button for 5+ seconds. Then try the slider switch twice. That usually brings it out of the lockup.

Have you tried holding the reset button in for 5 or more seconds and then double tapping the power slider?

Here's a Sony support website in Polish that recognises the PRS-650
Support -> Europe -> Poland
Support -> Europe -> Poland -> PRS-650
Similarly in English
Support -> Europe -> UK
Support -> Europe -> UK -> PRS-650

Even though you're showing a charge perhaps the meter is miscalibrated. You could try charging with a micro-USB charger rather than through a PC's USB port. If our 650 is like earlier models, at a low enough charge level the USB-to-PC connection will not function or charge.

Good news that you managed to get the reader started and charged.

Is there any reason why you cannot order this charger from Amazon in France, for delivery to Poland?
Alternatively, presumably you could order this item from Amazon in the UK
Or, similarly from Amazon in Germany

There is and big one, i don't know even one word in Francais ( i hope i spelled it good :S ) i can't order it form UK one also because

" We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below."

Sadly i live in Poland only things i can buy from Amazon are games.....

That seems silly, as both the UK and Poland are in the EU - it is supposed to be a common market! If you are willing to pay for it, I could order one and send it to you. I will send you a private message.

Boxcorner, she has a 650 which uses the same micro usb port for charging and side loading the same way the Kindle does. It doesn't have a mini usb and barrel charger like all of the former Sony's. I wish they were all like the 650 then I could get rid of a few dedicated charging stations and just have the micro usb for my readers and my cellphone.
