I have a Creative Zen mp3 player. It fell of the back of the sofa a few days ago. It plays fine and charges all right; however, I went to add some music and now my computer doesn't recognize it. I've tried re-installing the software, changing the USB connection, and checked that the USB cord works (it does). Does this mean I need a new player?

oh dear ;o( I remember when I accidentally killed my Zen ( washed it *sob*). I wonder if somehow you haven't knocked the internal usb connection loose?

Could there be dust or fluff in the USB connector? Be careful cleaning it! Use a fine paintbrush or one of those little camera dust brushes. Just a thought as dirty connectors can cause problems (yes, we learnt this the hard way!)

I can't remember where I learned of this site. Maybe here! Anyway, it's got some good discussions about what to buy when you need to buy a new mp3 player. (hint: Sanyo clip+ and Cowan)

I use to have a Creative Zen Nano Plus and it worked quite well, until it died and stopped working.

Now I am very happy with both my Apple Nano and Touch.....they are both very reliable for me. ![]() I think it may be a good idea to look around for another mp3 player that suits your particular needs. |

Good advice from CazMar. Next you will need to determine if the problem is the player or the USB. Start by plugging in a different USB appliance and attempt to access the player, does the PC access the player? Also try asking at anythingbutipod.com, those folks know everything about MP3 players.

Thank you to everyone who replied. I went to the anythingbutipod.com website and found an answer there. I needed to reboot my player. Thank goodness it was an easy fix and I didn't have to take apart the player or buy a new one (since I'm jobless and have no money). My computer now recognizes the player and I was able to add more music with no problems.

![]() I was peeking in to see if your solution could help me with my problem, but mine is a dead battery that is difficult to replace. (What I really need is a cable that will allow me to plug an iPod into the wall and the computer at the same time -- but I don't think they exist.) |
