Help Kovid 7.31 still getting python error

Still getting the python error. 'Python function terminated unexpectedly' (error code 1) I uninstalled 7.31 removed the Calibre Library folder. Program Files\Calibre2 was already removed. Rebooted and re-installed. Still getting an error message. Ran 'calibre-debug -g' from prompt. Here is the result: C:\Program Files\Calibre2>calibre-debug -g Python function terminated unexpectedly (Error Code: 1) Traceback (most recent call last): File "site.py", line 103, in main File "site.py", line 85, in run_entry_point File "site-packages\calibre\debug.py", line 155, in main File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\__init__.py", line 19, in <module> File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\meta.py", line 11, in <module> File "site-packages\calibre\customize\ui.py", line 14, in <module> File "site-packages\calibre\customize\builtins.py", line 454, in <module> File "site-packages\calibre\devices\apple\driver.py", line 37, in <module> File "site-packages\win32com\client\__init__.py", line 11, in <module> File "site-packages\win32com\client\gencache.py", line 662, in <module> File "site-packages\win32com\client\gencache.py", line 56, in __init__ File "site-packages\win32com\client\gencache.py", line 109, in _LoadDicts EOFError Hope you can fix this. I really like Calibre and want to be able to use it on my netbook. If you need any more info, let me know. Carol |

search your computer for a folder named gen_py, delete it and then try running calibre.

Not sure if it is a problem with python 2.7 since I have that on my computer along with pycrypto and python is working fine. Carol Last edited by sadievan; 11-28-2010 at 03:19 PM. | |

its likely to be inside a hidden folder, so make sure you enable searching in hidden folders.

open a command prompt and run this command calibre-debug -c "from win32com.client.gencache import Rebuild; Rebuild(True)" hopefully that will rebuild the dicts.dat file for you correctly |
