Where is your antipode - the point on the Earth's surface that is diametrically opposite to where you are now?

In the British Isles, "the Antipodes" is often used to refer to Australia and New Zealand, and "Antipodeans" to their inhabitants. Geographically the antipodes of the British Isles are in the Pacific Ocean, south of New Zealand.
I was told, when young (similar to the story in the next link), "If you keep digging that
hole you'll dig all the way to China". Well that wasn't very accurate. Most land masses actually have oceans as antipodals. Only certain locations in Argentina and Chile have China as their antipode.

To find the general location of your antipode, check out this map and follow the instructions.

To find more exact antipodes, check out these maps, switch to hybrid map function, and zoom in/out and maneuver around if necessary, and find the nearest land mass and any nearby human population.

The antipodal of my current position, Vancouver, Canada, is the Kerguelen Islands (French Southern and Antarctic Lands) - kind of equidistant between South Africa, South West Australia and Antarctica. No wonder there's snow here right now.

That's a great tool. Just move the hand around to find your current local and see the antipodal location.
