Thanks for the invite.

We are a recent semi Kindle family of which some live and work outside of the US. I will be purchasing a Kindle for Australia (which one?).

So, would like to know about or be directed to a source(s) on:

How to transfer my kindle books to my family or friends.

Kindle in Australia - Best practices and how it works.

Kindle elsewhere but near wi-fi.

I appreciate the forum for providing insight into programs, hints and other book websites.

Someone please correct me if I am nto correct, but I believe that the only way that one can send ebooks to family members is one of two ways:

1) Buy books in epub format; or
2) Strip out the DRM with software

I believe that DRM will prevent one from sending ebooks to family unless its stripped out.

1. sharing an Amazon account to which you can register up to 6 devices. Everyone has access to any ebooks purchased from the account.
2. using the new Amazon ebooks lending program: Later this year, Amazon will be introducing lending for Kindle, a new feature that lets you loan your Kindle books to other Kindle or Kindle app users. Each book can be lent once, for a period of 14 days. Not all books will be available to lend - the publisher or rights holder determines which titles are enabled for lending.

3. Choosing to remove the DRM

Wifi
For the most part, you can change wifi access on your Kindle depending on which server is available . In example, free wifi in shops, airports, hotels, etc.: Kindle supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b or 802.11g standard with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication; Kindle does not connect to WPA and WPA2 secured networks using 802.1X authentication methods; does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks.
