But at least with a train you can get up, walk around and change seats whenever you want. And you don't have to arrive at the station two hours before departure. Or queue up to be searched. Or show your passport to get on the train even when travelling within the country. Or pay extra for each bag you carry. Or pay an extra fee for buying your ticket by credit card. Or arrive at your destination on time, only to have to wait 20 minutes while the train taxis to the platform. And still have to queue up to get off. And then, even when you're off the train, have to get on a bus to take you right into the station. And then another train or bus to take you to the city centre. Or .... (I better stop here to give people a chance to disagree with me). |

Wouldn't be so bad with harness seatbelts and some drugs before you got on (sleeping drugs). That way you can deal with your muscle spasms later, but at least you won't slip to the floor (like there's room!)

I also hate riding backwards in trains- not only facing someone, but also getting carsick. I need to face forward. (Response to another post, but quoting is wonky on my blackberry) |

I'm looking at what the woman in the photo is doing (and not just for the obvious reasons...): That seat is simultaneously forcing her legs apart, and causing the back of her skirt to either ride up or be forced between her legs on that saddle arrangement. Uncomfortable and immodest... What woman will want to sit on that?

Might as well give us all orange flight suits and put us in those upright rollercoaster seats and strap us in with 6-point harnesses... |

but absolutely true!!!! My hubby had a great ride from Birmingham to London on a Virgin Pendelino train yesterday, city centre to city centre in 1.25 minutes, waaaay quicker than by car. I want to try the one to Glasgow (which is often a flight).

 a) the train is usually so full you can't get to them in rush hour (standing room only including by the toilet door; b) the darn things are nearly always out of order !!!! (very common) |

it occurs to me that with these seats, there is no way you can have a child in them either. |

Those seats are unfair to a lot of people who are not overly large. I can see class action law suits happening. So no, I would not want to sit in those seats. I know people who would not be able to sit in them. But a regular seat, no problem.
