One way to do it
 Quote:
-use folders [one-level only] for the books, as you wish them to be -start collection manager; -remove all current collections [the screen on the right ] -add all folders [drag them from left to right] -commit changes. This needs to be done each time new books are added [in general, it is enough to do it only for the folders that were changed] This helps in that it needs as many operations as the number of collections, instead of as many as the number of books. The limitation is that a book can belong to many collections, but with the folder method you can only add it to one collection. However, I find quite helpful. Of course, the best would be to implement drag-and-drop and multiple select in the software; but it seems its author has moved on, or is on a long vacation. It's amazing to me how stupid Amazon implemented it. It's just a marketing ploy - they 'have it', so you can buy your kindle; once you do that, you find it unusable. And you find a closed ear on their kindl[e-]y advertised feedback email.

Feature suggestion: Export/Import the collection file

I have a feature suggestion for Collection Manager: Export/Import the collection file. This has two advantages: - Backup the collections on PC (after 500 items was manually linked ); - Bulk editing the collection file outside and import into device Greetings from Russia |

 loooooooove this program!!!

duuuuude, this program is awesome!!!!!!! i love it!! it saves me tons and tons of time. i am just going nuts with it right now. the only thing that i don't like is that you have to restart the kindle from the settings menu, and it takes like a little while to restart. the program states that you can restart it either by the settings menu or by holding the on/off button for 15 seconds, but holding the button doesn't work. you must restart it from the setting menu and then all the collections i created will then be added with all the books you wanted in them. it's just soooo freakin cool. dude mad mad mad props for this. this program is the best companion for the calibre, i just love it. thanks for the hard work cause you created a very useful and unique program!!!

 Information Document on Manager

Hello, All. I hope it is okay that I've created this information document. I thought it might be helpful to gather all of Adrian's information into one document and present it to you. As more update information is posted, I'll edit it into this document and repost it. Enjoy. Regards, Vandy |

I can't seem to get past the registration screen for Collection Manager accessed from the link in this thread. Is it perhaps geographically-restricted (I live in South Africa)?

Looks like the same happens to me ... Germany here. Maybe it has a area restriction which I do not understand either.

Good idea. The thread is quite long, so this is simpler, at least for me. Has been lurking for some time, but have decided to try out the program now. Thanks !

Alas, the link seems to be defective. I've tried several times over the past few days. All is well until MegaUpLoad sends the file and immediately pops up an error about something missing. Since the author continues to be AWOL, I wonder if he'd be offended if anyone else uploaded it and posted the link. It is freeware, and no one else is trying to take credit for what seems to be some outstanding work... |

Be warned that if your computer doesn't already have the .NET 4 framework, this software will initiate its download and installation -- which can be very large and if you are on mobile data, very expensive! I had to abort halfway for that reason. So back to the drawing board: still looking for a way to manage collections externally! |

 Registration problems

Hi everyone, Sorry, but there was a problem with the SQL database that handles the beta registrations for the Kindle Collection Manager. I've sorted this out now, so if you previously had problems with an unresponsive registration page or no email being received containing the download link, please do try again - it's working now ;-) http://www.Colegate.net/KindleCollectionManager Sorry for the inconvenience. |
