Kindle 3 is very jetBook like.

I got my new Kindle 3 today. It's very jetBook like. See comparison on "Which One Should I Buy" forum. Bottom line: I'm keeping both, thank you. Regards, Jack Tingle |

Kris have you ever had a chance to handle a Kindle? I am seriously considering getting a k3, and keeping my JBL too. I've never had my hands on a kindle, though, to compare.

I have jetBook-Lite always with me and 6" ereader is too big for my pocket. I like how Sony PRS350 looks on video but I don't like that it has no SD card slot, no option to use AA batteries and I don't like price. Last edited by Kris777; 09-09-2010 at 07:56 AM.

So you don't find the battery compartment awkward to carry with you while you are out? That's another reason I am considering a K3, its so slim and light weight, I would be more inclined to take it out of the house. Also better in sunlight....my JBL tends to flicker in the sunlight.

...In conclusion, I like the K3, I don't love the K3. The jetBook shines because of the complete lack of hassle. 1) File conversion and transfer for the K3 is clumsy and time consuming. For the jetBook, it's effortless. 2) The K3 is a bit large for my taste. The jetBook is easier to carry around and handle. On the other hand: 1) The K3 is a little more pleasant to read on because of the Pearl screen. 2) So long as you don't want to play outside of Amazon's infrastructure, the K3's wireless features shine. I'm keeping both. Regards, Jack Tingle |

For a dry-goods retailer like Amazon, the less you think about your purchase, the better for them. The purchaser has all the time in the world, since the goods are non-perishable, while the seller has to move inventory or die. Bezos & co. figured out a way to make purchases nearly instantaneous, eliminating the thiking process of the unwary. Regards, Jack Tingle

Agree with Kris, if you can afford 6" or 8" thats fine, but 5" works fine, and its infinitely more portable pocketwise.

I have a Jetbook and the new Kindle 3. I honestly prefer the 5" screen and ease of loading books via SD card onto the Jetbook. The Jetbook is easier to manuever around in for me and one can easily create collections by genre, author or alphabet using an easy to create file structure. Jetbook also has many more user options too choose from. Power savings, PDF control, Jump to page numbers, etc. As much as I like the e-ink and lighter background of Kindle (the reason why I purchased K-3 for evening reading) I do not like it's awkard way of making collections and it really can only hold one audio book at a time unless you want them to play out of order. Also greatly missed are PAGE NUMBERS. I can't believe, there are no page numbers. Other than that Kindle is a wonderful e-reader but if I had to pick one over the other, I'd pick JETBOOK!!! |

I've had a chance to use Kindle 3 for a day. I think it has a much better display than jetBook. Reading ebooks on it is very pleasurable. K3 screen has excellent contrast, and it has very configurable font display. On top of that it has a text-to-mp3 function, and an excellent dictionary to boot. Though I don't care about its wireless feature, it does have it. What I don't like about it is that it only supports mobi/pdf/txt natively, and it doesn't have PDF reflow. Organising the ebooks is also pretty clumsy, and you can't access the books via folders. All in all, I do feel Kindle 3 is a sexier and a better ebook reader. |
