Blarg. Somebody delete this thread. I thought I'd be helpful and notify people but I guess I shouldn't bother to do that :P However, this thread is just turning bad.

Looks like only one person feels this is a useless thread. There were MANY more people that found this thread very useful, myself included. Shouldn't let the wants of one outweigh the wants of the many (Thanks Spock

Yes, it directed people somewhere else...but also put something important out there where it might not otherwise be seen.

Thats all it did. And there is a problem with that?

I apologize for assisting the move of your very helpful thread in a negative direction. I found it very useful as I didn't know the hack was in place until I saw this thread.

I too would not have noticed the new items in the developer's section were it not for this thread.
I had in fact already upgraded mine to 3.02, but I'm pleased to say the jailbreak and the screensavers hack work well.

Same here - I don't develop, and I'm not a programmer, but am curious about new technologies. Without this thread being here, I wouldn't have seen the work that had been done.

I'm not advocating that suddenly the forum is filled with signposts, but this one was useful!

What we really could use is a moderator to split the thread being referenced here so the stuff about the K3 is in a thread all alone with a proper title to point out that it is about the K3.

Hi there.
Well, it is my first post in this GREAT, HUGE Forum!! Today my first eReader arrives, the K3. I am afraid of hacking it though ...
I´m from Germany by the way. Would hack it anway ;o) if a hack allows me to keep using my "European" Amazon account and still be able to use 3G to enter any web site. Which is not possible here in Germany! No open internet access via 3G !!!
Only Amazon.com and Wiki.en. And that is disapointing. Any help there?

The hack is fine, just read the instructions very carefully, a couple of times first before you do it.
I think that Amazon said that 3G was only for accessing its store and wikipedia, and the WIFI would obviously allow you to surf the net. So no solution for that.

Do Amazon also lock out uk surfing via 3G then ? I though you could just surf where ever you wanted with the 3G.
EDIT** Just read another thread, Seems uk kindles have unrestricted 3G web access
