iPhone 4 user, new to Ebooks

As the title says, I'm brand spankin' new to Ebooks. I never messed with it on my previous iPhones, but I picked up the iPhone 4 last night and decided to try out Ebooks. First I downloaded Stanza, and I love it. I read all of "Whose Body" last night after reading a lovely review here. But I decided to try out the Kindle app for iPhone before settling on Stanza, and I'm still trying to work that out. I posted about my problems with Kindle in the alternate devices forum. Would anyone suggest any other reader apps for iPhone, paid or unpaid? What about readers for a Mac desktop? It would also be nice to have something that syncs between the two. I haven't gotten so far as to discover that yet. Reading: I'll read almost anything that's not nailed down, but I'm a bit of a snob about some things. I wouldn't be caught dead with Tom Clancy, f'r instance, but I have the most horrifying habit of reading trashy self-help and diet books. I know I know, but everyone has a fatal weakness. I love books about animals (James Herriot along with more esoteric fare), science fiction and fantasy (the spectrum, from Asimov to Carrie Vaughn to Kate Elliot to Sheri Tepper), queer theory, and random literature like the Lecturer's Tale. I read mysteries (if they're not too gory), and I collect cookbooks. The only things that I absolutely would not read if trapped in an otherwise empty room are horror and true crime. Anything else would do in a pinch, even an engineering manual. Currently I'm in school full-time and I also clean houses on the side, and volunteer for several organizations. When I'm not reading, I can be found tinkering with my computer, my iPhone, torturing my cats, dreaming about the aquascaped aquariums I had to give up when I moved to a studio, attempting to learn to sew, knitting something simple, or plotting how to get my hands on the equipment to make use of wood for the bookcase I tore apart recently. The boards have been stacked in my living room for months because I refuse to just nail them together into the shoeboxes I want. Picky, picky. I watch a stupefying amount of British television, an obsession I developed recently. I have autoimmune arthritis, so there are times when I'm too tired and achey to do anything other than watch silly television, so I've learned to enjoy it, and have developed some interesting tastes. I take pictures (badly), when I have time, which isn't often when school is in session. And that's my introduction. Nice to meet you all. After all that windiness, what was my original question again? Oh yes, readers for Mac and iPhone, preferably ones that sync. What do you like and why? |
