Agree with Ken, turn on the Jetbook, insert the SD Card, get the "updating file list" message, then all the folders and books pop up. Might want to send yours back Lady F, perhaps it has a bad SD socket or something. |

It's odd that I do not get that message about the SD card. Could it be related to version number? I'm staying with the earlier version (Software: v0.15d, Patch v15) of the FW that came with my JBL because, based on reports from this forum, it has better zoom qualities than the later versions (I also worry about bricking my JBL if I try to flash the FW; people have reported here that it is a touchy process often requiring several attempts). I'm reluctant to send mine back because, first, it would incur shipping charges, and second, I would be without a reader. I don't need to change the content on my JBL very often and it's not that big a deal to just reset the thing when I pull and reinsert the SD card, which has worked for me everytime. |

goes back to earlier FW than yours. If you are not seeing the warning, then your JBL is not functioning properly. Your's should still be under warranty. Normally, this is where I would be talking about how hard it is to brick a device with an ARM9 CPU and not to fear FW updates -but- with an SD card recognition problem it would be safer to get it repaired or replaced first. I just had a minor panic attack when my JBL wouldn't recognize a new 4gb SD card. Thanks to the info in this thread, the JBL and the SD card are now playing nicely together. With my original 2gb card, I always removed and reinserted it with the JBL off. It always updated perfectly (I never got any message about updating, as others have mentioned). But the JBL didn't acknowledge the 4gb card at all. Only when I saw the tip about leaving the JBL on when I inserted the card did I get it to successfully read the card. However, I then experimented and went back to my old method of turning the JBL off, removed the 4gb card, added another file, and then reinserted the card, all with the unit still off. This time, no problem at all, the files were updated. So for my unit at least, it seems as if it only needed to be on for first time with the new card. Just thought I'd mention it in case any other newbie is having the same issue, since it's an easier fix to try before reformatting or resetting. |
