I would really like a touch screen too, as long as it doesnt mess too much with the contrast. Also, some kind of a folders option and a notepad.

I DIDN'T BUY A KINDLE TO HAVE ANOTHER MULTIFUNCTIONAL DEVICE!!! If I want email, word processing, videos, etc...I have PLENTY of other devices for those apps. I wanted to read! No other device I have gives me the comfortable reading experience I need like my Kindle. No doubt other devices will come along and use e-ink displays. But I hope we will always have access to a simple, limited-function device that does only one (or a couple of related) thing(s) extremely well.

Better typography and layout would be good.

For me the Kindle is keenly priced, and does what I need it to in the main. If as others have suggested the method that books are indexed/stored is frustrating then yes I'd like to see a method of improving that, but wouldn't want a solution that meant we ended up with Oracle on the thing to manage it.

That said, I don't want the Kindle turned into a multi-purpose clone of the iPad either. But we're really talking about optional software addons here, which should never impact the price or performance of the Kindle at all.
