Well, on the Kindle itself it's not so bad, it's mostly the regular VAT rate you'd have to pay customs anyway. I think it might even be more accurate than it was for the k2i back in november (and a good more accurate: cheaper! ^^).

Well, I'll see if the cover issue settles itself later... Or I might just wait until some other covers are available, hoping that they'll also make use of the no battery light thingy, I really like that...

Unlike the K2, I think this one might not get a cover at all. Just a slip cover. And that will be easy to find. People who had the k1 said that with the rubberised back, holding it was much better. The new one has a similar feature so am thinking it might even go nekkid.

Besides, postage is so damn expensive, it tends to cost the same as the cover.

Cool, at least I'm not the only one out there with this "dilemma". I called cs and the lady said that they will still send a mail with the dates. Hopefully they'll still ship together

Pretty schweet not having to pay the import duties in Aus. In South Africa we pay about $40 import duties in the Kindle (with a cover)!! Fortunately I'm gonna be in Aus for a month when the new Kindle launches so I've mailed mine there

I suspect the "shipping as separate items" e-mail is simply auto-generated by Amazon's system due to the fact that the cover has a definite shipping date, but the K3 doesn't. I got the same e-mail.

I think he meant that he might not order a leather cover as he did for his K2.

Sorry, should have said "my" k2 has a cover I bought but think the k3 will be going nekkid.

The wall charger I ordered with the k3 is arriving tomorrow. It will be very lonely for a while.

I ordered Kindle Wi-Fi with the Cover w/light ended up being $282.46 with shipping and duties to Norway. I don't think that's too bad.

I did the sums on my Sony PRS-600 which cost me about $498 with the cover with light and found I turned a profit in less than a year, so I figured I could buy a kindle too even though I love my Sony. Despite being inferior in some ways, I'm looking forward to the prospect of perhaps playing Inform 7 Adventure games on the kindle when the J2ME based API reaches a broader audience and the 1 month battery time and improved screen is enough to sucker me into an impulse buy.
