Is it possible to still root the device with 3.5.0 installed, or have Kobo closed the hole?

I have to ask what you mean by root the device? Firmware 3.5.0 is for Kobo's eInk readers and is Linux based in contrast to their LCD tablets which are Android based. You could say that the eInk readers are automagically rooted since the only security context is root.

Am I missing a setting or is there no slider anymore with newer firmware to navigate through your Library, either by Books or by Collections? Having to flip through 100+ pages one by one is too tedious, so I can't believe it's an intentional design choice.

The number's not italicized, and it's not immediately obvious that (a) that text would be anything other than informational or (b) "of" is italicized.

They should've had made those really obvious. I have 50 pages of books on my library, and I have only known about those italics recently...
