The mods could try the "deus ex machina" approach -- at the last minute invent a new mod that no one has ever heard of - and pick him/her as the murderer!! Surprise!!!

No! My answer is correct! They said I was purposely leading the others around, that I was just concocting crazy theories and making wild accusations that wouldn't hold water.

Ahh, but the strawberries, that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action!

I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers...

...uh...

...Naturally, I can only cover these things from memory... if I've left anything out, why, just ask me specific questions and I'll be glad to answer them... one-by-one...

What I'd like is that no one be a culprit and that pshrynk comes back to his usual overcharging self...

But he is his usual overcharging self! Death doesn't seem to bother him in that respect. Or any other I can think of.

Right! I have done some thinking, some re-thinking, some re-reading, and some over-thinking. I have arrived at one solution (which was also my initial hunch), but to do that, I had to make two assumptions. One was reasonable, the other came out of nowhere. But then the alternative would be out of nowhere too. Am I on the wrong track? Am I on the right track? Am I a genius? Should I stop thinking right now and go see some ducks? (oops)
