Sigh... Is it just me or does one person seem to be missing all the time except during the interviews? In the beginning there are "nine or so", excluding Zelda and pshrynk. Then Verencat says there were 10 in the room, excluding pshrynk. But there are 11 at the questioning, including Zelda, excluding pshrynk. Was the missing one away somewhere and is therefore innocent, or exactly the opposite?

My murderboard on the kitchen wall is getting out of hand. Might have to extend to the hallway.

There's a theory that any more than 9 main characters in a book (especially mystery novels) leaves you confused and disorientated and therefore will find it more difficult to solve the mystery. I can't remember where I read this, but I'm sure it was in relation to Agatha Christie novels and why they were so successful.

Hmm... I did a quick google search on that and came up with this:
Quote:
In addition, the programme claims that a person’s conscious mind has a very limited focus, and can only focus on between five and nine things at one time. Once there are more than nine things to focus on, the conscious mind can’t continue to track them all, and so the person literally goes into a hypnotic trance. The Agatha Christie Code claims that Agatha often uses this by using more than nine characters, and by having more than nine plot lines taking place at any one time. As the reader’s mind gets overloaded, they start to begin really experiencing the book, feeling the book, and getting lost in it. And because feelings are infinitely more memorable than thoughts, people associate the feelings with Agatha Christie’s name and also with her novels.

So is MR trying to hypnotize us?

That's the one! I've been looking for that for ages and you get it in a couple of minutes. My google-fu is weak.

Well, I suppose we could eat one or two of them to reduce the confusion. I haven't had dinner yet.

i can't answer your question for fear of incriminating my/ourself(ves), but that does explain my love of christie novels...

i knew about the limited memory slots in the brain though ; when i'm getting spooked by a scary image from a story i read by accident i try to think of ten random (unscary) things in quick succession in hopes of bumping the scary thing out.

You were sleeping in a corner, if memory serves! Asleep and missing are two very different things. And since you were walking around cleaning things at the same time, I don't think your sleep is alibi enough anyway.
