Maybe all this is just a RED herring?

Anyway, I do have a theory (plus one or two alternative more half-baked ones), but let's wait until tomorrow and see. I expect the Nook to be explained away, if only because I can't properly fit it into my theory, so I'm hoping that it's another "clean crowbar" thing.

Is the murdered really pshrink anyway? He is a known (so I've heard) avatar thief, maybe he killed someone, put his avatar on the dead and stole a dog avatar which Ravenne painted in gray because he was covered in blood...
She's protecting the murderer to keep the prizes for herself...

Who has a dog avatar and has been missing lately?

I hate this competition. I remember that my mother had Ellery Queen novels and said to me you could always solve the crime yourself. Well, I couldn't and now I feel the same as then, haven't got a clue.
By the way, does anyone have noticed Ellery Queen novels as ebook, then I can take some practice and solve this mystery in a year time and try not to look at the solution before that.

I had an answer, but the recent instalment makes me doubt it. I shall wait for tomorrow and see what happens.

I have my knee jerk reaction answer - which I had from the start.
Then I carefully re-read all the installments over lunch today, made charts, and came to a carefully reasoned different choice.

I may just throw all the possibilities in a hat and let my cat choose!

Maybe a crack in time, say 1973, the same year of the Dalek War, the same year Rose Tyler and the Doctor get stuck when the Tardis malfunctions and them meeting up with Sam Tyler from Life on Mars, who just happens to wake up in 1973 after being hit by a car in 2006 and who just happens to have the same last name as Rose!

Coincidences? You be the judge.

or maybe time just warped...

I also have no solid leads on what's going on, though after a few complete re-reads, I have at least two motives, three hows, and four slightly suspicious circumstances.

But unless tomorrow is far more sensible, I'll have to make a guess.

On second thoughts, my solution might still be workable, having just thought of a useful twist to the yarn...

I'm curious if tomorrow will shed a little light on this whole affair or if it will leave us in the same surreal darkness. If so, it is very probable that the mods will get to keep some of the prizes, as it will most probably be wild guesses all around...

RSE, I think I finally have an idea of someone who fits all your questions. But....nah.

All the blue threads tying the various different llounges together.

Although if I follow your reasoning, I can think of another suspect, but that would make it less Christy and more another writer who wrote a few murder mysteries. The motive remains the same.

I can't imagine why the circles he drew were loopy. No, not at all.
